OVERWHELMED? ANSWER THIS ONE QUESTION

Do you feel you're juggling too many balls or you're being pulled in different directions? Perhaps your mind is going a million miles an hour and you can't switch off?

If you're a mum, your daily to-do list never seems to be clear.

If you're a teacher or leading a team, you're similiar. You're needed by children, colleagues and families and meanwhile, you keep thinking about the tasks waiting for you behind the scenes.

I'd have a guess you're aware we all have 24 hours in a day and 168 in the week, so time management, time efficiency and boundaries are the secrets to the achievers who appear to 'do it all'. Yes, boundaries! But we'll leave that topic for another day.

I think life's pretty special.

But it can also be eerily fleeting, don't you think?

Your days, your weeks and your years are rapidly moving onward. The question is, are you moving with them or merely being pulled by their momentum?

If you're wanting to stop your overwhelm and worry, if you want to know where to put your time, focus and energy, answer this one question:

WHAT MATTERS?

Sounds simple, right? Well it is. And it isn't.

This question can be applied to different scenarios. For example:

  • What matters in your life?
  • What matters for a child in the next 10 minutes?
  • What matters for this person?
  • What matters today?
  • What matters for your wellbeing?

The situation and timeframe of the question can change, but the purpose remains the same. What matters to you? In other words, what's important, what's of value or what is the best case outcome?

The answer to this question is your starting point to move from overwhelm and worry to calm and certainty. Specifics provide clarity and clarity is the light shining on your new and necessary focus.

Is it connection that's needed?

Perhaps it's information or further communication?

Maybe moving your body will be how your time is best spent?

Or time alone, or with friends or attending to tasks?

The only way to find these answers is to ask the right question:

What Matters?

Try it and let me know your results! Make 'what matters?' your new daily mantra and feel the alignment with who and how you want to live, increase every day.
